Gaelscoil Exhibition for Tramore’s Coast Guard Station

The work of the children of the Gaelscoil Philib Barún will be on display in the Coast Guard Station from Monday 4th May, until early June. Admission is free and all are welcome to visit the exhibition. The work represents the children’s vision for their future school and includes writing, posters, collages and 3D models. The Gaelscoil was established in Tramore in 1985 when a total of 29 children were enrolled. The school has since grown to over 200 pupils enrolled from Junior Infants to 6th class, though it has yet to secure a permanent building. The school has a staff of eight teachers, a resource teacher and an administrative principal. The school was named after Philip Barron, a pioneer of Irish Nationalism from the 1800s whose values live on in the school.

The Gaelscoil sits on a wonderfully elevated site in the town of Tramore, with panoramic views of the bay that are shared by the Coast Guard Station. The Gaelscoil owns its current site with a playing field, hardcore courts and prefabricated buildings. The exhibition is part of a campaign for the building of a permanent sustainable Gaelscoil here.
