Minister Gormley Supports Permanent Building Campaign

Bhi an t-Aire Comhshaoil, Seán ó Gormfhlaith, T.D., ag Staisiún an Gharda Chosta an Aoine seo caite an 29ú lá Bealtaine le pleananna nua-nochtaithe do ghaelscoil agus foirgnimh phobail ar a suíomh ag Cruabhaile Uachtarach sa Trá Mhór a fheiscint.

Minister for the Enviroment John Gormley T.D. called in to Tramore Coast Guard Station on Friday last, the 29th May, to view recently unveiled plans for a new Gaelscoil and community building at Crobally Upper, Tramore.

Flanked by local Green Party candidate for the local elections, Stan Nangle, who had invited the minister, Minister Gormley listened intently as parents and Board of Management outlined their frustration in dealing with the Department of Education and Science and sought his support for their eco friendly approach to building a permanent school.

Fintan Duffy of dhb Architects briefed the Green Party leader on elements of the design which would enhance the energy efficency of the school and suggested that the project be funded on pilot basis partially by his Department. Commitments were received from the Minister that he would look closely at the details and investigate the possibility of alternative funding arrangements for the scheme.

Before departing in his packed hybrid car, Minister Gormley said that he would personally facilitate a meeting between the Minister for Education and Science, Batt O Keeffe, TD, and the Board of Management of Gaelscoil Philib Barún.

Parents, staff and pupils were all very impressed with the Ministers comments and genuine interest in their project.
