Eirí As Múinteoir Caoimhín|Caoimhín de Paor Retires

Tá cinneadh déanta ag Múinteoir Caoimhin eirí as ag deireadh na míosa seo tar éis seirbhís fhada fhial dhílis a thabhairt do mhuintir na scoile ó 1996. B’fhada uainn é agus a thogha gaeilge is a bhuanna ceoil a roinn sé linn agus lena dhaltaí go flaithiúil. Tá sos ón mbóthar ó Charraig na Siúire tuillte aige agus guímid gach rath air ina scor ó ghairm na muinteoireachta.

Muinteoir Caoimhín has decided to retire at the end of this month after years of loyal and distinguished service to the school since 1996. His wonderful Irish and great musical talents will be sorely missed in classes and staffroom by the pupils and his fellow teachers. Caoimhín has journeyed many miles from Carrick for work , for after-school meetings and for matches. His rest from the road is well earned. We wish him a long and happy retirement.

In recognition of his musical contribution to the school during his time there, Caoimhín was presented with a new guitar from the Parent’s Association. He is pictured above with the guitar (a Freshman FA250J) along with (from left to right) Nelly Cuddihy (Board of Management), Daithí de Paor (Principal) and Caitríona Ni Chuirín (Staff).

Thuirling Caoimhin ar an nGaelscoil ó scoil bheag i gCondae na Mí i Nissan Bluebird bán Eanair fhuar na bliana ‘96. Nior ghoill an drochchóiríocht riamh ar Chaoimhín agus an scoil lonnaithe thuas staighre i dTeach Réalt na Mara ach amháin go mbeadh bord áisiúil dá chupán tae ag sos na maidine. Bhain daltaí fíor thaitneamh as na sciúirdeanna spóirt agus na babhtaí amhráiníochta a tharla ar an toirt maidin agus trathnóna ina seomra. Tá bá ar leith ag Caoimhín le gníomhaíocht agus éagsúlacht i dteagasc agus i bhfoghlaim rud a bhreith sé leis ón seomra ranga go dtí an seomra tacaíocht foghlamtha le déanaí. Is minic go raibh grúpaí daltai aige amuigh ag rásaíocht timpeall an chlóis agus na leabhair is pinn tréigthe ar na boird sa seomra is an doras éalaithe ar oscailt. Seo Caoimhín. Ní féidir do mhúinteoir gan a fhealsúnacht oideachais is saoil a thabhairt leis ar scoil. Ní fhaca Caoimhín tairbhe an dua sa bhfhoghlaim do leanai óga . Tá súil againn gur fada buan an bonnchloch san leagtha ag Caoimhín de Paor i nGaelscoil Philib Barún agus go mbeidh spraoi agus ceol i ndán do gach leanbh a thrasnaíonn tairseach na scoile.

Caoimhín landed in Tramore in a White Nissan Bluebird on a cold January in 1996, coming from a rural school in County Meath. The poor accommodation in Stella Maris House was never a source of complaint for Caoimhín as long as a suitable table was provided for teachers’ lunches. Pupils enjoyed the frequent runabouts and spontaneous singing sessions that occurred in his class morning and afternoon. Caoimhín as a teacher loves to vary methods in teaching and learning and this trait he has brought from the classroom to the learning support room recently. Often pupils are brought out for impromptu exercise in the yard leaving pens and copies abandoned in a stuffy room and the emergency door swinging. This is epitomises Caoimhín. As teachers we cannot help but bring our philosophy of life and education to our work. Caoimhín doesn’t see the point in making learning drudgery we hope that Gaelscoil Philib Barún will always be a place full of songs and games.
