Gaelscoil Philib Barún

Gaelscoil Loses Out Again

D’fhógair an tAire Oideachais 52 tionscnamh tógáil scoile nua le caiteachas €579 milliún ina iomlán. Creid é nó ná creid é níl Gaelscoil Philib Barún luaite. Níl ach scoil amháin i gCondae Phort Láirge luaite (Meánscoil na Toirbhirte, Cathair Phort Láirge) le Corcaigh, Baile Átha Cliath agus Gaillimh chun tosaigh sa liosta.

The Minister for Education has announced 52 new school building projects with a total spend of €579 million, and rather unsurprisingly Gaelscoil Philib Barún is not one of them. In fact, only one school in the entire county of Waterford was among those announced (Presentation Secondary School, Waterford City) with Cork, Dublin and Galway topping the poll.

Is ábhar ioróine é go bhfuil líon na dtionscnamh fógraithe (52) droim ar ais cothrom le líon na mblianta atá Gaelscoil Philib Barún ag fanacht ar áitreabh buan (25). Sampla eile den dearcadh cúlaigeantach ag Rialtais leanúnacha ar ár bhfeachtas!

Somewhat ironically, the precise number of projects announced (52) is the exact reverse of the number of years Gaelscoil Philib Barún has now been seeking a permanent home. This is yet another cruel example of the backward attitude of successive Governments towards our campaign.
