Press Ráitis

Cuireann an nuacht nach bhfuil an buiséad leithdháilte do thógáil foirgnimh caite ag an Roinn Oideachais is Scileanna alltacht ar Bhord Ghaelscoil Philib Barún.

Táimid 25 bliain i gcóiríocht shealadach. Tá ar n-iarratas is déanaí leis an Roinn Oideachais is Scileanna ó 2005 agus an Mhí seo caite do scríobh an Tánaiste chugainn ag rá go bhfuil sé róluath do chruinniú léi.

Tá beagnach milliúin euro caite cheana féin ar sheomraí réamhdhéanta ar shuíomh na Roinne ag Cruabhaile Uachtarach, Trá Mhór atá ceannaithe ó 2003.

Molaimid go gcaithfí an t-airgead nach bhfuil caite ar na tionscnamh tógála i mbliana ar na scoileanna is faide ar liostaín a Roinne. Tá cruthaithe ag Bord na scoile gur féidir leis plé go héifeachtach le tionscnaimh mhóra gan bacaint le cliarlachas na Roinne.

The Board of Management of Gaelscoil Philib barún have issued a press release in response to the DES failure to spend its allocated capital budget.

Press Release

Gaelscoil Philib Barún, Tramore, Co. Waterford is outraged to hear that the Department of Education and Science has failed to spend its allocated budget for school buildings.

We are 25 years in temporary accommodation. Our latest application to the DES has been stalled since 2005 and last month the Tánaiste, Mary Coughlan TD, wrote to the school board to inform us that a meeting with her would at this stage be “premature”.

Almost 1 million euro has been spent on prefabricated buildings to date on the Department’s site at Crobally Upper , Tramore, which was purchased in 2003.

We propose that the money not spent by the Department’s Building Programme be devolved to schools whose permanent accommodation needs are not being addressed. The Board of Management of Gaelscoil Philib Barún has managed 4 building projects to date and have shown that it is well capable of delivering projects on time under budget without recourse to the bureaucratic red tape of the Department of Education and Skills.
