Welcome to the official online home of Gaelscoil Philib Barún, an Irish-language school located in the seaside town of Tramore, Co. Waterford in Ireland.

Is féidir an suíomh a léamh as Gaeilge nó as Béarla tré an teanga gur mhian leat a roghnú ón liosta ar an dtaobh bharra. Tá leagan dátheangach den suíomh seo á fhorbairt againn le hábhar as Gaeilge agus as Béarla curtha leis gach lá.

This website can be viewed in either Irish or English by selecting the desired language from the list on the sidebar. A bilingual version of the site is also being developed and content in both Irish and English is being added on a daily basis.

Bunaíodh an scoil sa bhliain 1985 de thoradh saothar eisceachtúil tuistí agus muintir an bhaile go raibh suimh acu a bpáistí a chur go gaelscoil. Cláraigh 29 dalta an chéad lá agus tá breis is 200 dalta ag freastal uirthi anois. Tá ochtar oide ranga chomh maith le oide oideachas speisialta agus priomhoide riaracháin. Ainmníodh an scoil in omós do Philib Barún, ceannródaí teangan a bhunaigh scoil lánghaelach sa cheantar siar san 19ú aois.

The school was founded in 1985 as a result of the heroic work of a group of parents and local people who shared a common interest in Irish and in the foundation of a Gaelscoil in Tramore. A total of 29 children enrolled at that time and the school has since grown to over 200 pupils enrolled from Junior Infants to 6th class. The school currently has a staff of eight teachers, a resource teacher and an administrative principal. The school was named after Philip Barron, a pioneer of Irish Nationalism from the 1800’s whose values live on in our school.

  • Promote the campaign for a Permanent School Building which has been on-going for over 24 years

  • Increase the profile of the school both locally and nationwide
